Rice Anyone?

Still talking about last weekend, but it was getting WAY to darn hot to take Max out with us, so while we were out and about in the unbearable heat...what was Max doing???

Laughing at us ridiculous fools while he soaked up the wonderful air conditioning!

All around the prettier landmarks of Houston you'll see girls in Prom or Quinceanera Dresses getting photos, if you've never attended a Quinceanera you are missing out!
One of three pretty fountains by Hermann Park

My son liked this Texas sized limo :)

And here we are visiting Rice University...nope, neither of my kiddos went there :), great grades and lots of $$$ to go here for sure!

The entrance to Rice....

I think I like the fish-eye effect better!

All of the streets inside the campus are like this! Sooo nice in Houston summer weather!!!

This is really what my son and I came to check out on the Rice campus...it's called the James Turrell Skyspace, and is the big draw there in the evening-this does interesting and zen like light effects. I think we will be going to check it out soon! Looks pretty cool!

It was hard to try to show the structure but ...

Here you can see top to bottom but not the seats :(

Lot's of cute area's for the students to study!

Loved this fountain!

Just Hallways

A view from the 3rd floor, it's another pretty fountain

My son took this cool pix :)

After my son had gone to the Men's room he told me about this particular spot that has a shade you can open to see the outside and I thought it was kinda funny so I made him go take a photo!

There is also plenty of pretty sculptures around!
We came back from our little trip looking a literal hot-mess so Max was STILL laughing but harder now, once we returned!
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and keep those pups out of the miserable heat and laughing at you for being in it!

  1. Max although mum seemed to had a great adventure we think you got it right and stayed at home all cool with the AC. Have a marvellous Memorial Day Monday.

    1. Yes, it is definitely too hot for Max some days now and I won't risk him being overtaken by this heat. He is not the best at drinking from his portable dish and we have to dip our fingers in the water and splash then he'll drink a little until we do the whole process over and I also recently read that pups get overheated faster and easier than us humans so now I am extra paranoid. Have a great Monday!

  2. that is one beautiful campus - did they spring clean it just for you???? Love that shady student spot - those were always my favorite back at Adelaide Uni Campus. Oh - on a side note - Is you daughter in law moving to USA or is your son moving to Australia. If she is moving here and wants any tips on the immigration process I will be glad to share my knowledge.

Max was looking so cute laughing at you - he had the right idea - stay cool

    1. Well, most likely he will end up moving back there but they are sorta testing the waters here to see if she likes it here and if she does, then they would stay here. Yes, I would LOVE to get ANY knowledge you have on the immigration process as he is 23 and she 20 and I have deliberately stayed out of their business but the amount of paperwork and cost is too much for me to not get involved in this part :) Although from what my son says, sounds like Australia is a pretty darn great place to live! What do you feel are the pros and cons of living here vs. Australia? My email is dogloverofmaxATgmail.com Thanks sooo much!On a side note...it was pretty costly to mail them all Christmas pressies this past year...any hints on that?

  5. That's one snazzy looking university. My university looks like a freakin' bomb shelter. I don't have any Spanish friends, but I hear Quinceaneras are the cat's meow. That limo was MASSIVE. I'd be laughing at you guys too in your Texas heat. It's kind of chilly in Ontario and has been for the past few days. No complaints though!

And to answer your question about our interior decorating; we have an idea of what we'd like since we chose our colour schemes and upgrades to our previous condo. DK has a folder in his phone dedicated to furniture we want for our new condo :)

  12. My daughter has asked me about a quincenera before (she's 8 now) but I'm not sure if she'll have one. She's half hispanic. I guess we have a few more years to think about it.

    1. Better get the sponsor's lined up now! It can sure be expensive but soooo beautiful! Most of my friends allow the kids to choose that or a car. Kinda glad my kids aren't Hispanic as far as that choice goes...$$$ :) they just got regular gifts :)but I sure love going to them!

  18. Our Mommy used to go to Houston for business meetings a lot. She said that other than the heat strokes, it was fun. She used to love visiting Spring with the antiques.
