Misc. Things About Max's Mom... Me  I obviously adore Max, my Chihuahua mix pup that we estimate to be born January 8, 2009 but whom I adopted on February 16, 2012 and has been one of the best decisions I've made in years - he's my buddy, co-pilot and love of my life..can you tell?!! However, the very best thing I ever did in my life was give birth to my two wonderful, unique, beautiful and amazing children - what an enormous blessing!!! Both are grown now - my daughter lives a few minutes away with my Grand-pup Chloe (aka Beans) and we hang out as much as we can and do crazy things together routinely and my son recently married and lives with his beautiful bride in Australia currently - I'm so jealous! I couldn't ask for better kids...truly believe they are gifts from God!! My son and his wife may even move back here soon - yea!! He's always up for doing fun things too! Then I have one sibling, an older sister who with the support of her awesome hubby, quit her job and had my Dad move in with her as he now requires care 24/7 and since that wasn't an option for me financially as I work full time at a job that I love that helps with kids, I help out by going over there a few nights a week right after work and on Sunday for sure, then whenever other times as that sort of thing goes - our Dad is very loved for sure!!! So is my sister and her hubby!!! Luckily, they live nearby!! I'm an Aunt to three of their wonderful kiddos and Great Aunt of five little ones - all adorable I might add :) . So now ya know a little about me :)

Some of my Favorite Quotes or Sayings:

  • Be The Change You Wish To See In The World
  • Let Your Little Light Shine
  • I Love You
  • You're Not Going To Know Unless You Try It
  • What Would You Attempt To Do If You Knew You Couldn't Fail
In my searching long ago about quotes, I learned this piece of trivia...apparently "Be the change you wish to see in the world" was not the actual quote from Gandhi but was paraphrased by the actual quote in 1913 from Vol. 13, Chapter 13, Page 241 (Either way..I like both versions)
"We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do."

Just a FEW of my Favorite Books and Authors:

Jonathan Carroll (and bonus..he's a really nice guy too!) some of my favorite reads of his are
Sleeping in The Flame and Voice of Our Shadow but I've read all but 2 of his and never had a dud!

Harlen Coben (very entertaining at a book reading too!) I can't say that I have an all-time favorite, but have read every single one of his books and love them all! If you plan on reading his Myron Bolitar series I'd suggest starting in order. I would have never read about a Sports Agent (not exactly my thing I thought), but my Dad INSISTED I'd love it and Dad's book recommendations have always been spot-on so thankfully I read one, then ALL!

Mariatu Kamara and Susan McClelland - The Bite of The Mango - Actually I listened to the Audiobook of this and what a powerful story of courage, determination and strength!

Joy Lee - Rover's Rescues:  True Stories of Shelter Dogs and Second Chances - I'm about 1/2 way through and LOVE it! It's so great that there are so many people and organizations that manage to come together and help these little guys like Max! Didn't even know Joy had a book out but glad I stumbled on it!

Mark Bittner - The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (What a wonderful story! My Dad and Son also are big fans of this book!!) Very touching!!

Nicholas Sparks - Pretty consistently good love stories

Lorena McCourtney - Got turned on to her comical, older lady, mystery book with a free download from Amazon on my Kindle

J.C. Hutchins - 7th Son: Descent (this is a super and good hearted guy who did a podiocast that my daughter and I listened to faithfully every day when we used to carpool, I've had various email conversations with him too and it just doesn't get nicer than him! - great read too!)

Again, just a few as I am definitively a big reader!!!

Favorite Music Artists:  I'll start by saying that I'm "all over the place" on this....just depends on my mood and what I've heard and liked so far but here are a few...Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Adele, Ray Charles, Eminem, Tran-Siberian Orchestra, Point of Grace, Elton John, Queen, Weezer, Louis Armstrong, Addison Road, Beyonce, Bob Seger, Carole King, Omega, Carrie Underwood, Cher Lloyd, Rihanna, Nickleback, Prince, Rolling Stones, Ludacris and a TON more!

I'll add you to my "must read" list.
I was going to make a comment on liking Cher too, but then I noticed it was Cher Lloyd, so I won't say yay!
