Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

Last Saturday was super busy and Max and I added the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center to our list of stuff to do.  I had forgotten how nice it was to walk there!
Gosh, I really need to clean my car windshield! :)
Max was ready to walk the plank!
Only the first portion of the trail was wooden plank, the rest was dirt with some gravel.
This reminded me of something like The Secret Garden, (which I always hoped to discover as a kid).
We heard some movement so Max the Investigator had to try to find it! No luck.
This was a huge area and had long, continuous bench seating and was a welcomed, tranquil stop. It had begun to get a little hot, so Max and I had to stop for some water! Soo not looking forward to our Texas Summer heat!
Opps...took a wrong turn...no pups allowed on this part of the trails...
Max was ready to get into the a/c and so was I at this point! :)
This is the face of one VERY exhausted little Max! He was even making growling noises in his sleep the whole way home and you could tell he would have preferred not to have been woken up once we were home! I think it's the deepest I ever saw Max sleep!

Have a beautiful today and enjoy your weekend!!

  1. Max we love your parks they are so pretty. Ours is OK but it is mainly only grass and small woods and some ponds. Trouble is we have several busy roads that go through it. Mind you shouldn't complain as it is on the top of our road so it takes us under a minute to get there. Hope you had a great snooze when you got back. Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly

    1. Well, at least it's close though :), I generally have to drive a decent amount of time to get anywhere here but luckily I don't mind driving much and like to go "exploring" a lot! Just wish I had more money and time to do more! :) This place is about 30 minutes without traffic so it wasn't too bad to get to.

  2. how cool that you bring Max there we have botanical gardens in NYC but no dogs allowed. Thanks for your comment on my fashion sense. I used to hate taking pictures of myself but now I am more comfortable with it. I love clothes so I like to take pictures of my clothing, plus I like to give credit to the people I got them from since I get a lot of stuff from Etsy sellers. So you know though I wear pajamas about 50% of the time and not very nice ones either!

    1. Well, only half of the arboretum is dog friendly the other part is humans only although I don't get why as long as you pick up after your pup which you should do in either area.
Yes, I love when you post photos of you to see what you'll be wearing! You have such super cool clothes! I'll pretty much wear anything I can dig up for work as long as it's "professional" enough looking but I'm really a jeans type of girl.

  6. You know you have made you pupster super happy when he is so tired he sleeps (and snores) all the way home. That looks like a beautiful place to walk. We have seen Houston on HGTV's House Hunters a few times and thought what a pretty place it was.

    1. The heat isn't even bad yet! Today we sure felt it though!! I always carry a fold up water dish and water too just to be sure Max stays hydrated but soon I won't even take him outside other than potty time cuz it will just be too hot!

I always wanted to find my own "Secret Garden" too as a kid! Loved that book.

    1. Isn't that just such a magical book?! I've always loved to read, even as a kid my parents would preview adult books to be sure I was allowed to read it.

    1. Ha, come on over! Just do yourself a favor and avoid it like the plaque in summer! :) Today it started to get pretty hot, because the humidity is outrageous here so it makes it worse! Soon Max will only be going out for potty time and in the evening when it's cooler.
