Backyard Buddies

I've been blessed to live in my house for over 16 years now, bought it on a 30 year mortgage though, so still have a looong time ahead of me of mortgage payments. I wanted to this house so the kids would be able to stop having to switch schools all the time due to apartment living, etc. so at least my son was able to do that and daughter for Junior and Senior High - yea! This stump was a tree once that helped "sell" me on the house. It was a great tree climbing tree, although later, it also proved to be a great possum gateway into the dryer vent on top of my house where one day they figured out how toasty it was and came INTO my house one day...but that's a whole different and at the time, terrifying story...:)

I sort of think of it as our own little "Giving Tree".

This electric or telephone line goes across my backyard and is quite popular with these little fellows.  Usually I get my red cardinal but no luck on that today :( .

A small section of my backyard backs onto a tiny tree farm so we get tons of squirrels visiting us!

I love to watch them eat and like their little paws!

Their little feet are interesting looking too I think!

Aw, little guy, Max could care less about you and
Thunder Kitty is too busy sunning herself to give you a second glance!

Told ya it is a popular place to hang out!
Hey, Mr. Squirrel and Birdy Buddy's we're cool so long as you know that  I have dibs on the grass part of the yard and you have the upper space in the yard right?! See Ma, I got this ALL under control, I'm the Foreign Diplomat of the Backyard!
What about Mr. Lizard Max?
Ummmm, that's unfair to take Thunder Kitty's Bodyguard job away from her right Ma?! I mean, chasing them away gives Thunder aaaa...purpose....makes her feel...ummm...needed right? I mean Mr. Lizard can go hang at the neighbors right? We eehh don't want them not to have any backyard critter friends do we?!

Very true Max...nice that you're so "thoughtful" about our neighbors! :)

Have a beautiful today and share your wealth!

We'd love to visit your garden and hunt squirrels as no way our we so diplomatic. We are always out on vermin/kitty petrol on our tiny garden. It may be small but it is ALL ours. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  7. Ha! We had a possum problem about 2 years ago. There were some babies living under our house. We were able to capture a few and relocated them all eventually after a long time. I can think of maybe 3 occasions when they came into the house lol... not cool!

    1. Ha! Better buy a lotto ticket cuz if a bird poops on your head you're supposed to have really great luck! OMD, I gotta find a photo of my old Mazda...,I had this awful week where EVERYTHING that could go wrong did years ago and when I left the hospital parking lot to follow the ambulance to yet another hospital (long story) my car was COMPLETELY covered I'm talking I had to go get towels from the ambulance to clear my window to see out of!
