This 'N That Thursday is here again so a big thanks to 2 Brown Dawgs for hosting today's Blog Hop!
This week I've had a lot more free time than I typically have, so last Friday after work and then the whole day on Saturday, Max and I crammed as more as humanly and pupily possible into our time together...Friday after work I told ya about visiting
Mary Jo Peckham Park (cool little clip I found on YouTube) in Katy, Texas they also have
Cormorants there too. Then it was off to the City of Katy Dog Park where Max was informed some terribly misguided pawrents, thought Max was SMALL...what nerve!
Saturday morning we were up and at 'em early! Our first stop was the Butterfly Area of
Bear Creek Park in Houston but Max was not impressed!
This was about the only thing Max had an interest in ...the treats inside the little well there! |
Then we took some back roads to get to our next destination and this is what we saw along the road...
Ironically, the next stop was the Williams Water wall. In all the years I've lived here, it's ALWAYS been on and pretty to see....but...wasn't our day I guess, as it was closed for maintenance! It was first flowing in 1985 and was built for the high rise office bldg. beside it and is 64 feet tall to symbolize the 64 stories in the building. There are also 118 Texas Live Oaks nearby. You can
Click Here! to see a YouTube video I found that seems to show it pretty well when it IS working, but only HERE on Max's blog will you see it
NOT working! Ha!
Glad Ma knows the back roads in Houston or we could have been stuck in that! |
The Texas Live Oaks by the Williams Water wall |
Only yours truly would post a photo of the CLOSED for Maintenance Williams Water wall!!! |
Asta La Vista Baby! We are outta here! |
Then we were off to
Hermann Park in Houston to walk around and enjoy our day!
One of my favorite streets in Houston! Sunset Blvd. - I love the way the trees create this canopy! Still driving... |
Love this tiny park-beautiful trees!!! I used to take my kids here to eat lunch on our way or way home from the zoo....almost there now! |
Hermann Park (near the entrance to the zoo) |
Hard to see how large of an area this is but it's nice to walk around here |
I have a thing for bridges! :) |
Max was fascinated by the two older men and their remote control cars but was careful to keep a safe distance! (They thought it was a riot how he'd get up close and then run away just as quick...repeatedly!) |
Max loves bridges too...especially if there are treats in the water! |
What's a trip to the park without riding the train?! (No pets allowed.....if they see them :)) |
Ma, this is the best bridge yet...I get a real close view! |
I am now the official Hermann Park Welcoming Committee! |
But we know you're tired by now of looking at all our bazillion photos so we'll show ya the Japanese Gardens there tomorrow :). Hey, don't forget tomorrow is also

ReplyDeleteYuck, I hate traffic so we avoid it at all costs...would rather have a little longer but more scenic drive than sit and stare at cars!
DeleteWow, I had no idea Houston had so many pretty parks nearby. Thanks for being a great tour guide.
ReplyDeleteAnd even if Max wasn't impressed by the butterfly garden, I found your pictures beautiful.
Houston and the surrounding areas have a ton of parks but in the summer it sure does get hot! Too hot for me!!
