What Katy, Texas has for offer

You're now in Katy, Texas...originally platted in 1895 and incorporated in 1945. It was known to be a rail hub, had a large agricultural center, lots of rice farmers and had one of the largest gas fields in this section of Texas. Renee Zellweger attended school there and was a cheerleader for Katy High School. Clint Black also went to school there and eventually dropped out. I'm about 20 minutes away by car so it's an easy drive.
There's also more importantly, a cool dog park...
Don't laugh, but for those of you www.sugarthegoldenretriever.com  fans (and HOW could you not be a fan?!), you know there is this PAWSOME pix of her running with all 4's up in the air, purple paws a flying! I tried to see (since I'm learning my new camera), if I could capture something like that working in sports mode...this is my much failed attempt...one leg off the ground! ha! Max is certainly no Sugar! Ha! But then again...nobody is like our wonderful Sugar (see photo here...sooo worth clicking)!!

HELP! There's this weird, blondie, long, skinny legged pup chasing me!!

This pup was like our "Wal-Mart Greeter"...Welcome to the Dog Park!

She was even gracious enough to pose for us!

Fun...dirt with a new friend!!!

Come on...let's see what else this joint has to offer us pups!

Yummy smells! But that water?! Nope you KNOW if don't get THESE paws wet!

Someone else is doing FitDog Friday!

Help! Water...I need a spa treatment...NOW!! Carry me pleease Ma!! (Ma says nope!)

This pup was hilarious and FULL of energy!

Come on! I just wanna play!!!

LOVED this pup! Look at that face!!!

I'm not scared of you...I'm wearing my red super dog power harness - don't let the size fool you!
(Ma...Ma???...MAAAAA!!!)

Sweetest pup EVER!!! He LOVED Max and was so incredibly gentle and nice!!

Who you talking to? That's right...THIS guy is MY buddy!!! You were sayin'?!

Leader of the Pack for sure!

Another new friend! Cute!

Peace out guys! See ya next time! Gotta keep on movin'!

Hey, hey...wait...don't forget to post MY cuteness!!! I'm super friendly and EVERYONE loves me!!!

Have a beautiful today-enjoy those that you are about to meet!

    1. Yea, so happy to be able to communicate with you! I was trying to piece it all together without being able to speak your language. Gosh, I wish I knew how to speak multiple languages!! Wow, 19 years is awesome for Molly! Thanks for joining!

  5. Oh wow. I am hugely opposed to off leash dog parks (and so is our vet) It is great if all of the dogs are well behaved and current on vaccines, but in many cases they aren't.
I have heard of many horror stories from off leash parks and pray that they never happen at this one.

    1. Well, I have to say that I always keep Max on the leash until I am able to safely check out the park in a full lap and see who is there and how it is before I allow Max off leash and even still, I am always very close by because I do worry about that too. Luckily, especially this park is predominately "small town" people who have lived in Katy most of their lives and seem very responsible so I don't have that worry there. The other Dog Park I can take Max to is a bit bigger and so generally speaking I go right after work when it's the same crowd we know and it's sectioned off for small dogs. I totally see your point though.

    1. He did...he was like the Prince of the park! I have to say I was sooo ultra impressed with all the dog owners there...talk about a tight group of peeps and well-behaved pups! I had Max in the little pup section until some of them came to introduce themselves and explain that this bunch that was there were "regulars" so if Max wanted to enjoy running the big park he'd be more than welcome and safe. I think it's worth driving a little further to go back there at the same time. They nicknamed Max "Squeaky Toy"...ha!

  8. Wow, looks like a real pool and everything and such nice non-snowy weather! Great photos...and from my mom...those all feet in the air shots like Sugar are more accidental than anything at out house, very hard to create. She has captured a couple only using manual mode and photo burst. You will get one, keep on trying :)

    1. Thanks for the encouragement...I'm really just trying to learn what features the camera has and take a decent picture is the main goal but my time is so limited that I have to squeeze in learning where I can but I'll get there one day :)

    1. Now I bet if you guys hung out there with Max it would be a different story...he is VERY gentle and wouldn't get "all up in your business"...although I'd LOVE to see you guys come over when a repair man is at my house! Ha! Or maybe someone with the IRS! Ha!

    1. He was the absolute sweetest dog there and they were all super sweet! When you'd stand up to pet him, after a while he'd just lean harder and harder into you relaxing (not being forceful or anything), just sorta melting into being pet..I fell in love with him as did Max! Oh, tomorrow is more Great Danes!

    1. I love me some Torrey, Torrey is stunning...that's always the word that comes to mind! That poodle greeter was so full of charm and personality! That white (last) one though was a "never met a stranger" pup and was making me laugh (I tried hard not to laugh though as the owner was just so upset that she kept jumping on me, but just a play with me soft little jump), apparently she "never acts like that!"...figures, I ruin this pup :) She was too cute!

  18. Hi Max
Thank you for asking how Pip and Molly are. We had to rush to the vets yesterday as now both are sick. They had an anti-sickness shot and an antibiotic one too. Both refused to eat yesterday. Today they have had chicken and more antibiotics. They will be on tablets all week. I have my old laptop by the kitchen door as they are in and out all night and day and I am very tired. They hopefully will be fine once the tablets kick in.
    Have a great Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  20. wow, what a great park! i've never been to a park where the big dogs are in the same space. our parks split. big dogs have their big park and small dogs have a smaller park. you weren't afraid of those big guys?

    1. Most are separate and this one also has a mini area for small pups but Max was in the tiny area all alone so one of the large pup crew came over to tell me everyone that was there then were "regulars" and Max should come hang out with them and assured me this group invited the smaller pups out with them all the time and would immediately grab Max if he saw a non-regular start to enter the bog dog area. Max really does prefer the bigger pups but I have no idea why...nope, he wasn't intimidated in the least and the man was right...couldn't find a better group of sweet, well-mannered pups!
