FitDog Friday with Edith and Jesse

Hello again and we are still sharing our Saturday with you! Today we'll tell you about our visit to the Edith Moore Bird Sanctuary.  Max was cooled off from his trip to Discovery Green Park and we ate a quick bite together, then it was off to a bummer of a stop (tell you about that disappointment later), then here! Max loves walking on trails and being nosey, (kinda like his Ma), so I knew he'd love it!

Ok, I soooo suck..missed the BEST photo of all...well, should have been a video cuz I'd have one first place in a contest!! Max got brave and wandered into the brush just a little and all the sudden I hear him let out this LOUD (for Max), growl and jump STRAIGHT up like a FOOT in the air and flew past me so fast I let go of his leash...then when I saw what was soooo terrifying I was laughing hysterically, by myself, in the woods! A twig branch attached itself to Max's harness and scared the daylights out of him when it "followed him"! I am laughing now again just thinking about Max's face and reaction!

We sat on a little bench here and regained poor little Max's composure :) with lots of petting and talking to calm him down from the crazed, maniac twig branch!

I have no clue and WHAT kind of bird this is but there are LOTS of them and that seems how they all hang around but they were too fast to get a clear shot of...anyone know? We called them the bat birds!

Better make sure no demon twig branches jump out and attack me! Ma's on her own!!!

I'm wishing...I'm wishing....for the one I love.... (anyone know where that comes from?)

Interesting trivia...Edith was born in 1884, Jesse was born in 1894 (craddle robber eh?:)), they divorced in 1957 (odd for those times I thought), and Edith died only 1 year after willing the home and 17.5 acres to the Houston Audubon Society and Jesse lived until the age of 99 as passed in 1993. 

This little pond was made around 1930!

Park Day - You WON'T BELIEVE what Max Did!! (Read the P.S. too - ha!)

I HIKED FOR PARK DAY!!!... Brilliant idea by the awesome Gizmo as Co-Host of Park Day and Finn, Blogville's Director of Parks! Can't wait to read all the blogs today!!!

Last Saturday my son and my co-pilot Max, decided to drive about 2-1/2 hours away from Houston, Texas to see McKinney Falls State Park in Austin, Texas.  We began our trip as some of you know by stopping at Rosemary's Vineyard and Winery in La Grange, Texas...yum, good stuff! Then it was off to see the 726 acre park that opened in 1976 after 638 acres were donated by Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Smith and Miss Annie M. Smith who were the grandchildren of James Wood Smith had previously bought the land and homestead from Thomas F. McKinney who was one of Austin, Texas's very first settlers who eventually became famous for the race horses he bred.  The land used to be covered by sea but was broken by a volcano called Pilot Knob...I had to look it up because it does look rather odd, like Mars or something looking at some of the formations.

Even the Water Tower's liked me on the way home and smiled bye at me...a peanut butter treat would have been a nicer touch though Mr. Water Tower!

P.S.   Because Ma likes my big Brother, she won't show the photos of him dangerously jumping over rocks he shouldn't have and then falling in the deep ravine when jumping back over, once Ma knew he was ok, she was laughing really hard and making the clicker on her camera burn up! She calls those her special blackmailing photos but she felt a wee bit bad when she saw the huge scrapes on his sides...well, not THAT bad....not enough to delete them! (NOTE: No dogs were hurt in the making of this blog post...humans...well...ha ha ha!)

FitDog Friday Strikes Again!

Yes folks, I'm being dedicated and walking in the drizzling rain, but we discovered a new, tiny park near the house that we didn't even know existed until today! Thanks FitDog Friday for inspiring us!

Chloe:  Max REALLY...of all times...NOW you decide to get your paws wet? I mean LOOK at me?! I JUST got my nails done!!! Really Max, I expected a LITTLE more consideration from you!!!

Chloe:  I'm not MAD Max, I just don't wanna talk about it!...I SAID I'm NOT MAD!!!!

Max:  See Chloe, it's really just a little damp :), I'm even walking on the dog-side of you being all chivalrous in case some other male pup tries to come over and flirt with you!

Chloe:  It's ok, Max,...I'm over it....you're right, it does feel pleasantly squishy between my paws!

Chloe:  Come on now Max, don't hold a grudge...give me a kiss :)! 

Chloe:  Doesn't it remind you of our first pupdate?

Max:  Yea, Chloe...it sorta does!

Max:  I remember seeing you walk, that independent, cute little walk of yours...oh, Chloe...you're still as beautiful as the first day I met you!

Urrr...Can't ya'll see we are trying to have a moment here...cover you eyes Ma's!

Both:  Hey, who's THIS?

Leash-less:  Hey, you two done bickering?! I really wanna play!!

The Couple:  Sshhh...it's a ploy to get our Ma's to feel sorry for us...see, first they see us arguing...then we make up right?!...then they're all like human emotional messes and we'll get extra treats in the car on the way home and stuff! Come on Leash-less get with the program! You gotta stay one step ahead of the human Ma's! 

Have a beautiful today and watch out for sneaky, plotting, but adorable little dynamic duos and enjoy walking in the rain!!!
